PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Web of Steel Bowie Knife – Damascus & Spider Engraved Walnut combines a dramatic forged blade with detailed artwork and naturally figured wood. Measuring 13 inches overall, this handmade fixed-blade Bowie features an 8-inch Damascus steel blade, engraved walnut handle, decorative metal guard, and polished metal pommel cap.
Designed for Bowie enthusiasts, Damascus collectors, outdoorsmen, and customers who appreciate distinctive handmade craftsmanship, the Web of Steel stands apart through its bold spider-and-web theme. The flowing pattern of the Damascus blade visually echoes the engraved lines running across the walnut handle.
The result is a coordinated design in which the blade, handle, guard, and engraving work together. Every Damascus pattern and natural walnut grain will vary slightly, making each finished Bowie visually individual.
Eight-Inch Damascus Steel Blade
The knife features an 8-inch patterned Damascus steel blade. Damascus is admired for its flowing layers, contrasting steel lines, and naturally individual forged appearance.
The photographed blade displays sweeping waves, tight layered bands, irregular circular formations, and woodgrain-like movement. These patterns extend from the ricasso toward the point, giving the blade visual depth from multiple angles.
Pattern-welded Damascus is created by combining contrasting steel layers through repeated forging and manipulation. The blade is then ground, heat treated, polished, and etched to reveal the pattern.
Because this pattern develops during the forging process, every blade has its own arrangement. Two Web of Steel Bowie knives may share the same overall design while displaying different layered formations.
Dramatic Upswept Bowie Profile
The blade has a bold Bowie-inspired profile with a long cutting edge, substantial spine, and pronounced upswept clip point.
Its edge curves toward an elevated tip, creating a dramatic silhouette. The long belly provides extensive cutting surface, while the pointed profile gives the design the visual presence expected from a large handmade Bowie.
A defined ricasso creates a clear transition between the blade and guard. Small jimping-style details near the base of the spine introduce another handcrafted element.
This knife should be used responsibly for controlled cutting within the limits of its design. Avoid prying, throwing, striking hard metal, digging, or using the point as a general-purpose lever.
Pattern and Engraving Harmony
One of the knife’s most distinctive qualities is the visual relationship between the blade and handle. The forged steel layers resemble flowing threads, while the engraved walnut depicts an organized spider web.
The contrast creates the impression that the blade pattern continues into the handle artwork. This makes the Web of Steel more than an ordinary material combination; it gives the entire knife a unified theme.
Minor differences in Damascus pattern, etching shade, walnut grain, and engraving tone are natural characteristics of handmade pieces.
Spider-Engraved Walnut Handle
The handle is crafted from walnut wood, valued for its strength, comfortable feel, warm coloring, and attractive grain.
The pictured handle displays golden brown, medium brown, and darker linear grain. Its natural pattern forms a suitable background for the darker spider-and-web engraving.
The engraving features a circular web near the guard, with fine lines radiating outward. A large spider descends through the center of the handle, creating a bold focal point.
The design is carefully positioned so that the web occupies the upper grip while the spider extends toward the pommel. This arrangement allows the artwork to remain clearly visible without covering every section of natural walnut grain.
Natural Walnut Variation
Walnut is a natural material, so every handle may vary in:
- Grain direction
- Brown color and shade
- Light and dark areas
- Small natural markings
- Engraving contrast
- Surface pattern
These differences are not defects. They ensure that every Web of Steel Bowie has an individual handle appearance.
The engraved lines may also appear darker or lighter depending on the grain, finishing oil, and lighting conditions.
Decorative Metal Guard
A polished metal guard separates the Damascus blade from the walnut handle. The guard has a straight profile with decorative cutout details extending along its surface.
These cutouts introduce a custom appearance while complementing the linear elements in the spider-web engraving. The silver-colored finish creates a clean contrast against the warm walnut and darker Damascus etching.
The guard also defines the transition between the large blade and five-inch handle, helping give the knife balanced visual proportions.
Metal Pommel Cap
A polished metal cap finishes the rear of the handle. Its silver tone matches the guard and creates a coordinated frame around the walnut grip.
The pommel cap protects the handle’s end and provides a clean visual conclusion to the spider engraving. Its slightly flared profile adds definition without distracting from the artwork.
The combination of patterned steel, engraved wood, and polished metal creates a refined collector-focused presentation.
Balanced 13-Inch Design
The Web of Steel Bowie measures 13 inches overall, including its 8-inch blade and approximately 5-inch handle.
These proportions give the blade a commanding appearance while supplying sufficient handle length for a controlled grip. The guard forms a strong visual center between the two sections.
An 8-inch blade provides the size and presence associated with traditional Bowie designs without reaching the excessive dimensions of an oversized display piece.
Built for Bowie Collectors
The Web of Steel is particularly appealing to customers who collect:
- Patterned Damascus blades
- Bowie-style fixed blades
- Engraved wooden handles
- Spider and web artwork
- Handmade Western knives
- Nature-themed designs
- Custom walnut-handle knives
The coordinated theme gives it a clear identity within a larger collection. Instead of relying only on blade size, the knife gains character through thoughtful engraving and material selection.
A Distinctive Gift
This Bowie makes a memorable gift for collectors, outdoorsmen, ranchers, spider enthusiasts, and admirers of handmade craftsmanship.
It is suitable for birthdays, anniversaries, Father’s Day, Christmas, graduations, retirements, collector milestones, and other special occasions.
The name “Web of Steel” strengthens its storytelling appeal. It also makes the knife easier to remember than a generic product title.
Because every Damascus pattern and walnut grain differs, the recipient receives an individually patterned handmade piece.
Damascus Blade Care
Damascus steel requires regular maintenance to preserve its etched pattern and protect the surface.
After handling or use, wipe the blade clean and dry it completely. Fingerprints can contain moisture and oils that should not remain on the steel during storage.
Apply a thin layer of knife-safe mineral oil, especially after exposure to moisture, humidity, acidic substances, or outdoor conditions.
Do not place the knife in a dishwasher or soak it in water. Avoid abrasive pads, aggressive polishing compounds, and harsh chemical cleaners because they can fade or alter the etched pattern.
Walnut Handle Care
Clean the walnut handle with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry it immediately. Avoid soaking the wood or exposing it to prolonged moisture, extreme heat, and rapid temperature changes.
A small amount of suitable wood-conditioning oil may be applied occasionally to help preserve the grain and finish. Apply it sparingly so the engraved lines remain crisp and free from excessive buildup.
Do not use harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners on the engraving.
Proper Storage
Store the Bowie in a cool, dry environment away from prolonged direct sunlight and high humidity. If a leather sheath is purchased or included separately, avoid leaving the knife inside damp leather for extended storage.
A light coating of mineral oil and a soft protective wrap can help preserve the Damascus blade when the knife is being stored for a long period.
With responsible care, the Web of Steel Bowie can retain its forged pattern, walnut grain, engraved artwork, and polished fittings for years.

I'm very pleased with this tent after having it for two years I've been in the rain I've been in the snow and it's held up pretty good but the cover that covers it did not hold up that good but the tent is perfect
Really enjoy the awning. Easy setup and got a little rain on the first trip. Easy to adjust for the run off. Very happy with the purchase!
I am one of the earliest customers Astrodome, I bought it and didn’t set it up for almost a year. By the time we set it up, we were blown away by the beauty of this space we purchased it on a mountain ledge in our glamping retreat in Lake County California two hours north of San as much as I love this space there are definitely some challenges with it in our location. It might work better than other locations, but we have had problems with the stakes, slipping and collapsing in the ground beneath and with the prevailing winds, it did stay up and it stays dry, even in tornadoes, but because the wind hits it from One Direction coming from the coast, this is definitely been a challenge for us we are going to try adding some weight inside it. The guests absolutely love this space keep in mind that with those skylights it’s going to get hot in the summertime but what’s nice is in the winter. It heats up almost passive solar. it’s also wonderful with a woodstove. A very cost effective alternative to a geodesic dome! If you want to experience it stay in ours, on Hipcamp.
I bought one of these at Scheels and absolutely love it. Great design, has everything you would ever need in a first aid/trauma/survival kit. Have one in all of my vehicles now. These guys truly thought of everything
A complete coverage of possibilities for my project and needs.
I love my new tent stove. Costumer service was also attentive and great to work with. Thank you.
The mounts work perfect with the truck bed rack I have on. Thank you for the excellent line of communication. You guys never kept me in the dark. I will ordering from you guys again.
I was wondering if you are able to sell just two extra mounts or do they just come in a set of six.
The color was even better in person. For well, looks well made and was easy to fold up and put into the carrying case. There was a bunch of colored plastic pieces from manufacturing on the mat, but I was able to vacuum it right up so be careful pulling it out.
Although it took a little extra time the delay very of my OVS Truck Topper was great. Good price too!
Fully engaged with customer, helped me get the crossbar I needed on time!
Product worked out great for my rack setup.
Order was delayed due to manufacturer delays, but my questions were answered and expectations on timing reset along the way. Cross bars were in perfect condition and work great!
I was in the market for a 3/4 length roof rack for my 4Runner as I wanted an upgrade from the OEM rails but still wanted to retain a somewhat OEM look. I am very happy that I went with the Sherpa Needle. It is a high quality rack with the best install method out of all the racks I looked at. I like that it is designed so you don’t have to deal with a mess of silicone when mounting. It is also nice that the fairing sits just above the roof instead of resting on it so that the paint does not get scratched. I was worried about wind noise because of this but I am happy to say there is no added wind noise at all.
I am also glad I purchased this rack through Live More Outside. I shopped around and they had the best pricing considering I was able to get a discount code, shipping was free, and they don’t charge sales tax. Shipping was prompt and I received the rack sooner than I thought I would.
Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and I will definitely come back to Live More Outside as I continue to build my rig.
By far one of the best customer service! Nathan has been a huge help on any questions and quick to respond! Live more outside is top notch. We are getting ready to hit our first outing with our new RTT. Cant wait to test it out. We also just purchased a 270 awning. I found one on another website but wanted to keep my business with live more outside. Nathan price matched and beat their price! We will continue to keep our business with this company!
