Rasp Steel Gut-Hook Skinner – Hand-Forged Farrier Rasp Blade with Wildlife Cutouts
A Skinning Knife Built With One Extra Tool Built In
Field dressing game often means switching between a skinning blade and a separate gut-hook tool. The Rasp Steel Gut-Hook Skinner solves that with a hand-forged farrier rasp blade that integrates both functions in one knife, finished with intricate wildlife blade cutouts and an ergonomic bone handle.
What Makes the Rasp Steel Gut-Hook Skinner Worth a Closer Look?
Why Start With Farrier Rasp Steel?
The Rasp Steel Gut-Hook Skinner begins life as a farrier's rasp, a tool originally used for shaping horse hooves. Skilled bladesmiths hand-forge that high-carbon rasp steel into a skinner profile, keeping traces of the original rasp texture along the spine. That's part of what makes this farrier rasp hunting knife look and feel different from a factory-made blade.
What Does the Gut-Hook Actually Do?
Built into the spine of the blade, the integrated gut-hook lets you open a field-dressed animal cleanly without switching tools mid-task. It's a purpose-built addition to this custom wildlife cutout blade, designed for hunters who want one knife that handles both skinning and gutting in the field.
What's the Story Behind the Wildlife Cutouts?
The Rasp Steel Gut-Hook Skinner features an intricate wildlife silhouette cut directly into the blade, a decorative detail that turns a working tool into something worth displaying. Each hand-forged bone handle skinner in this line carries its own subtle variations, since the cutout and rasp texture are shaped by hand rather than stamped from a mold.
Is the Handle Built for Real Field Use?
This skinner pairs its blade with an ergonomic bone handle (wood options also available), shaped for a secure grip through repeated skinning and field-dressing tasks. Paired with a tooled leather pancake sheath, it's built to be carried and used, not just displayed, similar to the process behind our full handmade skinner knife collection.

I'm very pleased with this tent after having it for two years I've been in the rain I've been in the snow and it's held up pretty good but the cover that covers it did not hold up that good but the tent is perfect
Really enjoy the awning. Easy setup and got a little rain on the first trip. Easy to adjust for the run off. Very happy with the purchase!
I am one of the earliest customers Astrodome, I bought it and didn’t set it up for almost a year. By the time we set it up, we were blown away by the beauty of this space we purchased it on a mountain ledge in our glamping retreat in Lake County California two hours north of San as much as I love this space there are definitely some challenges with it in our location. It might work better than other locations, but we have had problems with the stakes, slipping and collapsing in the ground beneath and with the prevailing winds, it did stay up and it stays dry, even in tornadoes, but because the wind hits it from One Direction coming from the coast, this is definitely been a challenge for us we are going to try adding some weight inside it. The guests absolutely love this space keep in mind that with those skylights it’s going to get hot in the summertime but what’s nice is in the winter. It heats up almost passive solar. it’s also wonderful with a woodstove. A very cost effective alternative to a geodesic dome! If you want to experience it stay in ours, on Hipcamp.
I bought one of these at Scheels and absolutely love it. Great design, has everything you would ever need in a first aid/trauma/survival kit. Have one in all of my vehicles now. These guys truly thought of everything
A complete coverage of possibilities for my project and needs.
I love my new tent stove. Costumer service was also attentive and great to work with. Thank you.
The mounts work perfect with the truck bed rack I have on. Thank you for the excellent line of communication. You guys never kept me in the dark. I will ordering from you guys again.
I was wondering if you are able to sell just two extra mounts or do they just come in a set of six.
The color was even better in person. For well, looks well made and was easy to fold up and put into the carrying case. There was a bunch of colored plastic pieces from manufacturing on the mat, but I was able to vacuum it right up so be careful pulling it out.
Although it took a little extra time the delay very of my OVS Truck Topper was great. Good price too!
Fully engaged with customer, helped me get the crossbar I needed on time!
Product worked out great for my rack setup.
Order was delayed due to manufacturer delays, but my questions were answered and expectations on timing reset along the way. Cross bars were in perfect condition and work great!
I was in the market for a 3/4 length roof rack for my 4Runner as I wanted an upgrade from the OEM rails but still wanted to retain a somewhat OEM look. I am very happy that I went with the Sherpa Needle. It is a high quality rack with the best install method out of all the racks I looked at. I like that it is designed so you don’t have to deal with a mess of silicone when mounting. It is also nice that the fairing sits just above the roof instead of resting on it so that the paint does not get scratched. I was worried about wind noise because of this but I am happy to say there is no added wind noise at all.
I am also glad I purchased this rack through Live More Outside. I shopped around and they had the best pricing considering I was able to get a discount code, shipping was free, and they don’t charge sales tax. Shipping was prompt and I received the rack sooner than I thought I would.
Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and I will definitely come back to Live More Outside as I continue to build my rig.
By far one of the best customer service! Nathan has been a huge help on any questions and quick to respond! Live more outside is top notch. We are getting ready to hit our first outing with our new RTT. Cant wait to test it out. We also just purchased a 270 awning. I found one on another website but wanted to keep my business with live more outside. Nathan price matched and beat their price! We will continue to keep our business with this company!
