PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Rasp Steel Drop Point Knife – Bone, Turquoise & Cross-Draw Sheath combines the working character of traditional rasp-file steel with premium Western handle materials and a hand-tooled leather carry system. Measuring 7 inches overall, this handmade fixed-blade knife features a 3.25-inch drop-point blade, polished bone handle, turquoise-stone spacer, steel bolster, brass details, and a two-slot cross-draw sheath.
Designed for ranchers, cowboys, farmers, hunters, campers, and handmade knife collectors, this compact Western knife provides an effective balance of portability, edge control, and cutting capability. Its broad belly supports slicing and controlled skinning, while the carefully formed drop-point tip assists with detailed outdoor work.
The preserved rasp teeth across the upper blade give the knife an unmistakable identity. They reflect the steel’s original working form and distinguish this handcrafted piece from ordinary smooth production blades.
Handcrafted Rasp-File Steel Blade
The 3.25-inch blade is crafted from rasp-file steel, a material strongly connected to ranching, farrier work, and traditional blacksmith craftsmanship. Rasp files are originally made to withstand repeated abrasion and demanding workshop use.
During the knife-making process, the steel is shaped, ground, heat treated, finished, and sharpened into a functional drop-point blade. A portion of the original rasp texture remains visible across the blade’s upper section.
The diagonal teeth do more than provide decoration. They preserve a clear visual link to the material’s original purpose and give every knife a rugged handmade appearance.
Because the retained tooth pattern may vary slightly with the original file and grinding process, each completed blade can display individual texture and character.
Broad Drop-Point Profile
The blade uses a practical drop-point profile with a broad cutting belly, sturdy spine, and controlled point. This geometry is well suited to ranch chores, outdoor slicing, and controlled field work.
Its curved belly provides extended cutting contact, making it helpful for sweeping cuts and skinning. The point is positioned for accurate handling without becoming excessively narrow.
At 3.25 inches, the blade remains compact and easy to control. It provides useful cutting surface without creating the bulk of a large field knife.
Common applications include cutting rope, opening feed bags, trimming leather, slicing packaging, preparing light campsite materials, and completing routine outdoor cutting tasks.
The knife is intended for cutting only. It should not be used for prying, digging, striking, heavy chopping, or turning fasteners.
Satin-Ground Cutting Bevel
The lower portion of the blade has a smooth satin-ground bevel that contrasts with the rugged rasp teeth. This clean grind forms the functional cutting area while emphasizing the blade’s handcrafted construction.
Fine finishing lines give the bevel a professional appearance without producing an overly reflective mirror polish. The combination of raw rasp texture and smooth satin steel reinforces the knife’s working Western character.
Rasp steel requires regular maintenance. The preserved texture can hold moisture if the blade is not cleaned and dried properly, so owners should pay special attention to the textured upper section.
Polished Bone Handle
The main handle section is made from polished natural bone. Its warm cream and ivory tones create an attractive contrast with the darker rasp pattern and reddish-brown leather sheath.
Bone has a long history in traditional knife making. It is valued for its firm feel, classic appearance, and ability to take a smooth polish.
Natural bone may display small variations in grain, shade, fine lines, and surface character. These differences help make every handmade handle visually individual.
The rounded handle profile sits comfortably in the palm and supports controlled use. Its smooth shape avoids unnecessary bulk while providing enough gripping space for a compact ranch knife.
Turquoise-Stone Spacer
A bright turquoise-stone spacer separates the bone handle from the polished steel bolster. Dark web-style veining runs through the turquoise, giving it a traditional Southwestern appearance.
The vivid blue-green color provides a bold contrast with the cream bone, silver steel, and warm leather. Turquoise-inspired details are closely associated with Western and Southwestern craftsmanship, making this spacer an ideal accent for a cowboy-style belt knife.
Natural or individually patterned turquoise sections may vary slightly in shade, veining, and pattern. This variation complements the individual rasp texture and natural bone.
Polished Steel Bolster and Brass Details
A broad steel bolster forms a smooth transition between the turquoise spacer and blade. Its polished silver finish complements the satin bevel and gives the handle a clean forward section.
Brass pins secure the bone handle, while a brass-lined lanyard opening reinforces the hole at the rear. These warm golden details introduce subtle contrast without overpowering the bone and turquoise.
A leather lanyard may be added through the lined opening if the owner prefers an additional retrieval point.
Balanced Seven-Inch Design
The knife measures 7 inches overall, making it compact enough for convenient belt carry while providing sufficient handle and blade length for practical work.
The 3.25-inch blade is easy to guide during tasks that require deliberate edge placement. Its compact size also reduces unnecessary weight during long ranch days, outdoor trips, and horseback riding.
Balanced proportions allow the knife to sit close to the body in its cross-draw sheath without becoming cumbersome.
Hand-Tooled Cross-Draw Sheath
The included sheath is handcrafted from brown leather and features two elongated belt slots. This configuration supports horizontal or angled cross-draw carry, depending on the owner’s belt and preferred position.
Cross-draw carry places the handle within convenient reach from the opposite hand. It can be especially comfortable while sitting, riding, driving, or working around a ranch.
The sheath features rich two-tone leather, Western tooling, contrasting stitching, reinforced edges, and a shaped profile that follows the knife.
Genuine leather may vary slightly in shade, tooling, grain, and stitching. Regular use can create an individual patina that adds further Western character.
Made for Ranch and Outdoor Work
This compact rasp steel knife is suitable for controlled cutting tasks around a ranch, farm, campsite, workshop, or hunting camp.
Typical uses include:
- Cutting rope, cord, and twine
- Opening feed and supply bags
- Trimming leather and similar materials
- Controlled skinning and field dressing
- Slicing packaging
- Preparing light camp materials
- Completing routine ranch cutting jobs
The broad belly supports sweeping cuts, while the manageable blade length provides close control.
Traditional Western Craftsmanship
This knife brings together materials associated with ranch life and traditional handmade craftsmanship. Rasp-file steel connects the blade to farrier and workshop history, while bone, turquoise, brass, and tooled leather create a recognizable Western presentation.
The preserved file teeth show the transformation from working material into a finished cutting tool. This visible history is part of what makes a handcrafted rasp knife appealing to collectors.
It is equally suitable as a practical belt knife, a ranch companion, or a distinctive addition to a Western collection.
A Memorable Rancher Gift
The Rasp Steel Drop Point Knife makes an excellent gift for ranchers, cowboys, farmers, farriers, hunters, campers, and knife collectors.
It is suitable for birthdays, Father’s Day, anniversaries, graduations, Christmas, retirements, ranch celebrations, and other important occasions.
The turquoise and bone handle gives the knife a refined presentation, while the rasp texture maintains its rugged working identity. The included cross-draw sheath completes the set.
Blade, Handle, and Sheath Care
Clean and dry the blade thoroughly after every use. Pay particular attention to the retained rasp teeth, as textured areas can hold moisture. Apply a light coating of knife-safe mineral oil before storage.
Wipe the bone and turquoise handle with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it immediately. Avoid soaking, harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and extreme heat.
If the leather sheath becomes wet, remove the knife and allow both pieces to dry separately at room temperature. Apply a quality leather conditioner sparingly when needed.
For extended storage, keep the lightly oiled knife outside the leather sheath in a cool, dry environment.

I'm very pleased with this tent after having it for two years I've been in the rain I've been in the snow and it's held up pretty good but the cover that covers it did not hold up that good but the tent is perfect
Really enjoy the awning. Easy setup and got a little rain on the first trip. Easy to adjust for the run off. Very happy with the purchase!
I am one of the earliest customers Astrodome, I bought it and didn’t set it up for almost a year. By the time we set it up, we were blown away by the beauty of this space we purchased it on a mountain ledge in our glamping retreat in Lake County California two hours north of San as much as I love this space there are definitely some challenges with it in our location. It might work better than other locations, but we have had problems with the stakes, slipping and collapsing in the ground beneath and with the prevailing winds, it did stay up and it stays dry, even in tornadoes, but because the wind hits it from One Direction coming from the coast, this is definitely been a challenge for us we are going to try adding some weight inside it. The guests absolutely love this space keep in mind that with those skylights it’s going to get hot in the summertime but what’s nice is in the winter. It heats up almost passive solar. it’s also wonderful with a woodstove. A very cost effective alternative to a geodesic dome! If you want to experience it stay in ours, on Hipcamp.
I bought one of these at Scheels and absolutely love it. Great design, has everything you would ever need in a first aid/trauma/survival kit. Have one in all of my vehicles now. These guys truly thought of everything
A complete coverage of possibilities for my project and needs.
I love my new tent stove. Costumer service was also attentive and great to work with. Thank you.
The mounts work perfect with the truck bed rack I have on. Thank you for the excellent line of communication. You guys never kept me in the dark. I will ordering from you guys again.
I was wondering if you are able to sell just two extra mounts or do they just come in a set of six.
The color was even better in person. For well, looks well made and was easy to fold up and put into the carrying case. There was a bunch of colored plastic pieces from manufacturing on the mat, but I was able to vacuum it right up so be careful pulling it out.
Although it took a little extra time the delay very of my OVS Truck Topper was great. Good price too!
Fully engaged with customer, helped me get the crossbar I needed on time!
Product worked out great for my rack setup.
Order was delayed due to manufacturer delays, but my questions were answered and expectations on timing reset along the way. Cross bars were in perfect condition and work great!
I was in the market for a 3/4 length roof rack for my 4Runner as I wanted an upgrade from the OEM rails but still wanted to retain a somewhat OEM look. I am very happy that I went with the Sherpa Needle. It is a high quality rack with the best install method out of all the racks I looked at. I like that it is designed so you don’t have to deal with a mess of silicone when mounting. It is also nice that the fairing sits just above the roof instead of resting on it so that the paint does not get scratched. I was worried about wind noise because of this but I am happy to say there is no added wind noise at all.
I am also glad I purchased this rack through Live More Outside. I shopped around and they had the best pricing considering I was able to get a discount code, shipping was free, and they don’t charge sales tax. Shipping was prompt and I received the rack sooner than I thought I would.
Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and I will definitely come back to Live More Outside as I continue to build my rig.
By far one of the best customer service! Nathan has been a huge help on any questions and quick to respond! Live more outside is top notch. We are getting ready to hit our first outing with our new RTT. Cant wait to test it out. We also just purchased a 270 awning. I found one on another website but wanted to keep my business with live more outside. Nathan price matched and beat their price! We will continue to keep our business with this company!
