PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Outback Legend Bowie Knife – D2 Steel, Resin & Stacked Leather Handle is a commanding fixed-blade design inspired by the rugged character of traditional Outback and frontier knives. Measuring approximately 17 inches overall, this extra-large Bowie features a substantial 12-inch D2 steel blade, red resin handle sections, a stacked-leather grip, brass-colored fittings, and a stitched leather belt sheath.
Extra-large D2 steel blade
The centerpiece of the Outback Legend is its impressive 12-inch D2 steel blade. D2 is a tool steel known for strong wear resistance and dependable edge retention when correctly heat-treated and cared for.
The blade has a bright satin-polished appearance that highlights its long profile and clean bevels. A narrow decorative fuller runs along the upper portion, adding visual definition without distracting from the broad polished surface.
Although D2 contains more chromium than many conventional carbon steels, it should be considered semi-stainless rather than completely rustproof. Proper cleaning, drying, and oiling remain important, especially in humid conditions.
Sweeping clip-point profile
The blade uses a long, upswept clip-point profile inspired by traditional large Bowie knives. Its cutting edge maintains a gentle curve before rising toward the tip, producing an elegant but imposing silhouette.
A defined ricasso forms the transition between the blade and guard. With a 12-inch blade and approximately 17-inch overall length, the Outback Legend is intended for buyers who appreciate oversized collector Bowie designs.
Brass-colored guard
A polished brass-colored guard separates the blade from the handle. One end curves toward the blade, creating a traditional quillon shape that complements the flowing clip-point profile.
The warm gold tone of the guard provides an attractive contrast against the bright D2 blade and deep red resin handle. A matching brass-colored pommel completes the rear of the grip and creates a coordinated finish.
Before advertising these fittings as solid brass, confirm their exact composition with the production team.
Red resin handle sections
The handle features vivid red resin sections at the front and rear. The resin has a slightly marbled appearance, giving it depth and a distinctive handcrafted character.
Resin is valued for its visual consistency and resistance to many of the seasonal changes that affect natural wood. Small differences in shade, pattern, and translucency may appear between handcrafted pieces.
The rich red color gives the knife a recognizable identity and pairs particularly well with the brass-colored fittings.
Central stacked-leather grip
A compressed stacked-leather section sits at the center of the handle. The individual leather layers create visible rings and introduce warm brown tones between the red resin components.
Stacked leather has a long association with traditional outdoor knife handles. It provides a textured, heritage-inspired appearance and can develop additional character with proper use and care.
Because genuine leather naturally varies, the shade, compression lines, and surface texture may differ from one handle to another. Keep the leather dry and condition it sparingly with a suitable leather-care product.
Brown leather belt sheath
The Outback Legend includes a brown leather sheath with a contrasting black textured center panel. Double rows of stitching run along the edges, reinforcing the handcrafted presentation.
A retaining strap with snap closure helps secure the knife. The extended belt loop supports traditional vertical carry, although the knife’s substantial dimensions and weight should be considered before belt use.
Leather naturally varies in grain, color, texture, and markings. Individual sheaths may therefore differ slightly from the example shown.
Collector-focused Outback styling
The combination of a 12-inch D2 blade, red resin, stacked leather, and brass-colored fittings gives the Outback Legend a memorable identity. Its large proportions make it especially suitable for collectors who prefer dramatic fixed-blade designs.
It can make an impressive addition to a Western, frontier, or Outback-themed collection. The complete knife-and-sheath presentation also makes a distinctive gift for collectors, outdoorsmen, ranch enthusiasts, and admirers of handcrafted knives.
Optional personalization
Custom engraving may be added where adequate surface space is available. Suitable options include names, initials, dates, ranch names, and short commemorative messages.
The final engraving location and size depend on the requested artwork and available surface. Each personalized item is individually finished, so minor differences from digital previews should be expected.
Care and storage
Clean the D2 blade after handling or use and dry it completely. Apply a thin layer of suitable knife oil or food-safe mineral oil before storage.
Avoid prolonged contact with water, fingerprints, salts, or acidic substances. Store the knife separately from its leather sheath during extended periods because natural leather can retain moisture.
Wipe the resin sections with a soft cloth. Do not use harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners. Keep the stacked-leather section dry and apply a compatible conditioner sparingly. Maintain the sheath with a suitable leather-care product and store it in a cool, dry location.

I'm very pleased with this tent after having it for two years I've been in the rain I've been in the snow and it's held up pretty good but the cover that covers it did not hold up that good but the tent is perfect
Really enjoy the awning. Easy setup and got a little rain on the first trip. Easy to adjust for the run off. Very happy with the purchase!
I am one of the earliest customers Astrodome, I bought it and didn’t set it up for almost a year. By the time we set it up, we were blown away by the beauty of this space we purchased it on a mountain ledge in our glamping retreat in Lake County California two hours north of San as much as I love this space there are definitely some challenges with it in our location. It might work better than other locations, but we have had problems with the stakes, slipping and collapsing in the ground beneath and with the prevailing winds, it did stay up and it stays dry, even in tornadoes, but because the wind hits it from One Direction coming from the coast, this is definitely been a challenge for us we are going to try adding some weight inside it. The guests absolutely love this space keep in mind that with those skylights it’s going to get hot in the summertime but what’s nice is in the winter. It heats up almost passive solar. it’s also wonderful with a woodstove. A very cost effective alternative to a geodesic dome! If you want to experience it stay in ours, on Hipcamp.
I bought one of these at Scheels and absolutely love it. Great design, has everything you would ever need in a first aid/trauma/survival kit. Have one in all of my vehicles now. These guys truly thought of everything
A complete coverage of possibilities for my project and needs.
I love my new tent stove. Costumer service was also attentive and great to work with. Thank you.
The mounts work perfect with the truck bed rack I have on. Thank you for the excellent line of communication. You guys never kept me in the dark. I will ordering from you guys again.
I was wondering if you are able to sell just two extra mounts or do they just come in a set of six.
The color was even better in person. For well, looks well made and was easy to fold up and put into the carrying case. There was a bunch of colored plastic pieces from manufacturing on the mat, but I was able to vacuum it right up so be careful pulling it out.
Although it took a little extra time the delay very of my OVS Truck Topper was great. Good price too!
Fully engaged with customer, helped me get the crossbar I needed on time!
Product worked out great for my rack setup.
Order was delayed due to manufacturer delays, but my questions were answered and expectations on timing reset along the way. Cross bars were in perfect condition and work great!
I was in the market for a 3/4 length roof rack for my 4Runner as I wanted an upgrade from the OEM rails but still wanted to retain a somewhat OEM look. I am very happy that I went with the Sherpa Needle. It is a high quality rack with the best install method out of all the racks I looked at. I like that it is designed so you don’t have to deal with a mess of silicone when mounting. It is also nice that the fairing sits just above the roof instead of resting on it so that the paint does not get scratched. I was worried about wind noise because of this but I am happy to say there is no added wind noise at all.
I am also glad I purchased this rack through Live More Outside. I shopped around and they had the best pricing considering I was able to get a discount code, shipping was free, and they don’t charge sales tax. Shipping was prompt and I received the rack sooner than I thought I would.
Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and I will definitely come back to Live More Outside as I continue to build my rig.
By far one of the best customer service! Nathan has been a huge help on any questions and quick to respond! Live more outside is top notch. We are getting ready to hit our first outing with our new RTT. Cant wait to test it out. We also just purchased a 270 awning. I found one on another website but wanted to keep my business with live more outside. Nathan price matched and beat their price! We will continue to keep our business with this company!
