A Blade Style with History
Damascus steel goes back over a thousand years. Bladesmiths in the Middle East developed it for its strength and sharp edge. The technique spread across trade routes and became known worldwide. Today, Damascus is still used for premium kitchen and utility knives because of how well it holds an edge and how it looks. The layered pattern on every blade is unique — no two are the same.
What's Inside the Steel
This cleaver uses high-carbon Damascus steel made from folded layers of metal. High-carbon steel gets sharper and stays sharp longer than standard stainless. The folding process also strengthens the blade and creates the swirling pattern you can see across the surface. Each knife looks different because the pattern forms naturally during forging.
Blade Performance
The blade is built for chopping and slicing. It handles vegetables, boneless meat, herbs, and general prep work without much effort. The wide face is useful for scooping cut food off the board. The edge holds up well with regular honing. Sharpness comes back quickly with a whetstone if needed.
Handle

I am one of the earliest customers Astrodome, I bought it and didn’t set it up for almost a year. By the time we set it up, we were blown away by the beauty of this space we purchased it on a mountain ledge in our glamping retreat in Lake County California two hours north of San as much as I love this space there are definitely some challenges with it in our location. It might work better than other locations, but we have had problems with the stakes, slipping and collapsing in the ground beneath and with the prevailing winds, it did stay up and it stays dry, even in tornadoes, but because the wind hits it from One Direction coming from the coast, this is definitely been a challenge for us we are going to try adding some weight inside it. The guests absolutely love this space keep in mind that with those skylights it’s going to get hot in the summertime but what’s nice is in the winter. It heats up almost passive solar. it’s also wonderful with a woodstove. A very cost effective alternative to a geodesic dome! If you want to experience it stay in ours, on Hipcamp.

I was wondering if you are able to sell just two extra mounts or do they just come in a set of six.
The color was even better in person. For well, looks well made and was easy to fold up and put into the carrying case. There was a bunch of colored plastic pieces from manufacturing on the mat, but I was able to vacuum it right up so be careful pulling it out.
Although it took a little extra time the delay very of my OVS Truck Topper was great. Good price too!

I was in the market for a 3/4 length roof rack for my 4Runner as I wanted an upgrade from the OEM rails but still wanted to retain a somewhat OEM look. I am very happy that I went with the Sherpa Needle. It is a high quality rack with the best install method out of all the racks I looked at. I like that it is designed so you don’t have to deal with a mess of silicone when mounting. It is also nice that the fairing sits just above the roof instead of resting on it so that the paint does not get scratched. I was worried about wind noise because of this but I am happy to say there is no added wind noise at all.
I am also glad I purchased this rack through Live More Outside. I shopped around and they had the best pricing considering I was able to get a discount code, shipping was free, and they don’t charge sales tax. Shipping was prompt and I received the rack sooner than I thought I would.
