PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Australian Outback Bowie Knife – D2 Steel, Resin & Stacked Leather Handle is a substantial fixed-blade design inspired by the large field knives associated with rugged frontier and Outback traditions. Measuring approximately 17 inches overall, it features a commanding 12-inch D2 steel blade, blue marbled resin, a central stacked-leather grip, brass-colored fittings, and a stitched leather belt sheath.
Extra-large D2 steel blade
The Australian Outback Bowie is built around a broad 12-inch D2 steel blade. D2 is a tool steel known for its wear resistance and ability to maintain an edge when properly heat-treated and cared for.
The blade has a bright satin-polished finish that emphasizes its generous length and clean lines. A narrow decorative fuller travels along the upper portion, adding visual depth to the otherwise smooth blade face.
D2 contains more chromium than many conventional high-carbon steels, but it is generally classified as semi-stainless rather than completely rustproof. The blade should still be cleaned, dried, and lightly oiled after handling or use.
Sweeping clip-point profile
The blade features an elongated clip-point Bowie profile with a gradual curve rising toward the tip. Its long edge and upswept point create the unmistakable appearance expected from a large Australian Outback-inspired Bowie.
A defined ricasso separates the main blade from the guard. The 12-inch blade, combined with a 17-inch overall length, gives this knife an imposing collector-scale presentation.
The fuller adds a traditional visual feature without hiding the clean satin finish. Its placement follows the direction of the blade and reinforces the knife’s elongated proportions.
Brass-colored guard
A polished brass-colored guard sits between the blade and handle. One side curves toward the blade, forming a traditional quillon that complements the sweeping profile.
The warm metallic finish contrasts against the silver-gray D2 blade and blue resin handle. A matching brass-colored pommel cap completes the grip and creates a coordinated appearance.
The fittings appear brass-colored in the photograph. Confirm their exact metal composition with the production team before advertising them as solid brass.
Blue marbled resin handle
Blue marbled resin forms the front and rear sections of the handle. Its mixture of deep blue, lighter blue, and translucent-looking details gives the grip a striking visual character.
The resin sections are polished smooth and shaped to follow the handle’s gently contoured profile. Variations in the marbling pattern, shade, and color distribution can occur between handcrafted pieces, making each handle slightly different.
The blue material gives this Australian Outback Bowie a distinctive identity and creates a strong contrast with the brown leather sheath and gold-colored fittings.
Central stacked-leather grip
A section of compressed stacked leather appears in the center of the handle. The visible brown layers introduce a traditional outdoor knife detail between the two polished resin sections.
Stacked leather is formed from multiple leather pieces compressed around the tang and shaped into a grip. The layers create visible rings and provide a warm, heritage-inspired appearance.
Natural leather can vary in color, compression, grain, and texture. Keep the leather section dry and use a compatible conditioner sparingly when required.
Brown leather belt sheath
The knife includes a brown leather sheath with a contrasting black textured inset panel. Double lines of stitching follow the sheath’s edges and emphasize its handcrafted construction.
A snap-retention strap helps secure the knife. The extended belt loop supports traditional vertical carry; however, buyers should consider the knife’s 17-inch overall length and substantial size before carrying it on a belt.
Leather is a natural material. Color, grain, markings, panel texture, and stitching may vary slightly between individual sheaths.
Collector-focused Outback design
With its 12-inch D2 blade, vivid blue resin, stacked-leather grip, and classic leather sheath, this model is an attractive addition to a large Bowie knife collection.
It is well suited to collectors, Australian Outback enthusiasts, outdoorsmen, ranch admirers, and customers who value oversized handcrafted designs. The contrast between the polished blade, blue handle, brass-colored fittings, and brown sheath also makes it an impressive display piece.
The complete knife-and-sheath set can make a memorable birthday, retirement, anniversary, holiday, or Father’s Day gift.
Optional custom engraving
Personalized engraving may be added where sufficient surface space is available. Suitable options include a name, initials, date, ranch name, or short commemorative message.
Final engraving placement and size depend on the requested design and the available surface. Handcrafted products may show minor differences from digital engraving previews.
Care and storage
Clean the D2 blade after handling or use and dry it thoroughly. Apply a thin coat of suitable knife oil or food-safe mineral oil before storage, especially in humid environments.
Avoid prolonged contact with moisture, fingerprints, salts, and acidic materials. During long-term storage, keep the knife outside its leather sheath because natural leather can retain moisture.
Wipe the resin sections with a soft cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Keep the stacked leather dry and condition it sparingly with an appropriate product. Maintain the sheath with suitable leather conditioner and store it in a cool, dry location.

I'm very pleased with this tent after having it for two years I've been in the rain I've been in the snow and it's held up pretty good but the cover that covers it did not hold up that good but the tent is perfect
Really enjoy the awning. Easy setup and got a little rain on the first trip. Easy to adjust for the run off. Very happy with the purchase!
I am one of the earliest customers Astrodome, I bought it and didn’t set it up for almost a year. By the time we set it up, we were blown away by the beauty of this space we purchased it on a mountain ledge in our glamping retreat in Lake County California two hours north of San as much as I love this space there are definitely some challenges with it in our location. It might work better than other locations, but we have had problems with the stakes, slipping and collapsing in the ground beneath and with the prevailing winds, it did stay up and it stays dry, even in tornadoes, but because the wind hits it from One Direction coming from the coast, this is definitely been a challenge for us we are going to try adding some weight inside it. The guests absolutely love this space keep in mind that with those skylights it’s going to get hot in the summertime but what’s nice is in the winter. It heats up almost passive solar. it’s also wonderful with a woodstove. A very cost effective alternative to a geodesic dome! If you want to experience it stay in ours, on Hipcamp.
I bought one of these at Scheels and absolutely love it. Great design, has everything you would ever need in a first aid/trauma/survival kit. Have one in all of my vehicles now. These guys truly thought of everything
A complete coverage of possibilities for my project and needs.
I love my new tent stove. Costumer service was also attentive and great to work with. Thank you.
The mounts work perfect with the truck bed rack I have on. Thank you for the excellent line of communication. You guys never kept me in the dark. I will ordering from you guys again.
I was wondering if you are able to sell just two extra mounts or do they just come in a set of six.
The color was even better in person. For well, looks well made and was easy to fold up and put into the carrying case. There was a bunch of colored plastic pieces from manufacturing on the mat, but I was able to vacuum it right up so be careful pulling it out.
Although it took a little extra time the delay very of my OVS Truck Topper was great. Good price too!
Fully engaged with customer, helped me get the crossbar I needed on time!
Product worked out great for my rack setup.
Order was delayed due to manufacturer delays, but my questions were answered and expectations on timing reset along the way. Cross bars were in perfect condition and work great!
I was in the market for a 3/4 length roof rack for my 4Runner as I wanted an upgrade from the OEM rails but still wanted to retain a somewhat OEM look. I am very happy that I went with the Sherpa Needle. It is a high quality rack with the best install method out of all the racks I looked at. I like that it is designed so you don’t have to deal with a mess of silicone when mounting. It is also nice that the fairing sits just above the roof instead of resting on it so that the paint does not get scratched. I was worried about wind noise because of this but I am happy to say there is no added wind noise at all.
I am also glad I purchased this rack through Live More Outside. I shopped around and they had the best pricing considering I was able to get a discount code, shipping was free, and they don’t charge sales tax. Shipping was prompt and I received the rack sooner than I thought I would.
Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and I will definitely come back to Live More Outside as I continue to build my rig.
By far one of the best customer service! Nathan has been a huge help on any questions and quick to respond! Live more outside is top notch. We are getting ready to hit our first outing with our new RTT. Cant wait to test it out. We also just purchased a 270 awning. I found one on another website but wanted to keep my business with live more outside. Nathan price matched and beat their price! We will continue to keep our business with this company!
